Total SA. The Group's principal activity is to explore and produce oil and natural gas. The Group operates under four segments: Upstream, Downstream, Chemicals and Corporate. Under the Upstream segment, the Group undertakes the production of oil and gas, power and other energy sources. Under the Downstream segment, the Group undertakes trading, shipping, refining and marketing of petroleum products, automotive fuels and LPG. Under the segment Chemicals, it offers petrochemicals, fertilizers and other base chemicals for industrial use. Under the Corporate segment, the Group undertakes financial activities and health care activities through its subsidiary Sanofi-Aventis. The Group operates mainly in Europe, North America, Far-East and Africa.
