Nexen Inc.. The Group's principal activity is to explore, develop and produce crude oil and natural gas and related products around the world. The Group operates in four segments, namely, Oil and Gas, Syncrude, Cheicals and Energy Marketing. The Oil and Gas segment includes explore, develop and produce crude oil, natural gas and related products around the world. This segment includes onshore operations in Yemen and Canada and offshore in the US Gulf of Mexico and the UK North Sea. The Syncrude segment develops and produces synthetic crude oil from mining bitumen in the oil sands in northern Alberta. The Chemicals segment manufactures, markets and distribute industrial chemicals, principally sodium chlorate, chlorine, muriatic acid and caustic sod. The Energy Marketing segment comprises of marketing and sale of crude oil and natural gas and invlolved in energy trad ing, including electricity generation.
