Pennon Group PLC. The Group's principal activities are providing water and sewerage services, and waste management. The Group's water and sewerage division operates in Devon, Cornwall and parts of Dorset and Somerset. It serves a region of nearly 10,300 square kilometres with 1.65 million residents. The Group's water base comprises distribution mains, sewers, impounding reservoirs, water treatment works, waste water treatment and combined sewer overflows. The Group's waste division operates as a provider of waste treatment, recycling and disposal services. This division has landfill disposals and generation of electricity from landfill gas. Waste collection focuses on the industrial and commercial market. Th e Group also has insurance related operations. The Group operates in the Unite d Kingdom and the British Virgin Islands. During 2008, the Group acquired the entire share capital of Grosvenor Waste Management Ltd and Ledge 806 Ltd.
