Valero Energy Corporation. The Group's principal activity is to produce and market premium products such as reformulated gasoline, diesel fuel, low-sulfur diesel fuel and ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel, and oxygenates. The Group also produces gasolines, distillates, jet fuel, asphalt and petrochemicals and lubricants. The Group operates in two segments: Refining and Retail. The Refining segment includes refining operations, wholesale marketing, product supply and distribution and transportation operations. The Retail segment includes company-operated convenience stores, Canadian dealers and jobbers, truckstop facilities, cardlock facilities and home heating oil operations. As of 31- Dec-2007, the Group operated 17 refineries with a combined throughput capacity of approximately 3.1 million barrels per day. Its primary wholesale and retail brand names includes Diamond Shamrock(R), Shamrock(R), Ultramar(R), Valero(R) and Beacon(R).
